Information
- About the course
WMPALC provides cultural awareness training (CAT) about Pilbara Aboriginal culture, history and languages. This training provides non-Indigenous people and staff of organizations with a very good basis with which to understand Pilbara Indigenous culture.
WMPALC was ratified by the Commission of Elders in 2003 as the organisation most appropriate for the development and delivery of CAT training in the Pilbara.

Father McKelson and Lawmen at Bidyadanga - Course delivery method
WMPALC CAT is delivered by trained, highly experienced and skilled Pilbara Aboriginal trainers. These trainers provide a safe, sensitive and good humoured environment in which participants will enjoy the cross cultural experience.
Trainers provide plenty of opportunity for participants to ask questions, consider information and absorb alternative perspectives on history, culture and language. A panel of Aboriginal Elders sits in with each CAT session to provide incidental information, recount appropriate stories and respond to participant’s questions. The panel is made up of people with strong Aboriginal cultural and linguistic backgrounds, and have been trained to provide this information in a sensitive and honest way.
A certificate of participation is provided for CAT participants.
