Image Book See It, Say It
Two new resources in Thalanyji are now available. The Thalanyji Sound and Picture Dictionary is an interactive CD Rom for your computer, featuring sounds and pictures for selected words.

The latest addition to Wangka Maya’s popular See It, Say It series is also in Thalanyji, a Pilbara language spoken near Onslow. Like all the other books in this series, the Thalanyji See It, Say It features one word and picture per page, plus audio CDs in the back. Readers can listen to the words being spoken on the CDs while reading along and looking at the helpful illustrations. The book also includes useful extras like a full index and a complete Pilbara language map. Additionally, unlike the previous See It, Say It books, this edition is printed on smaller, A5-sized paper to make it more portable.

Judy Hughes, Anne Hayes and Shirley Hayes provided all the language data for this book, working in short sessions going all the way back to 2001. Glenys Hayes also helped the staff at Wangka Maya organise and coordinate the project.

The Thalanyji See It, Say It joins the three previous books in this series: the Nyangumarta, Ngarla and Banyjima editions. All of these books, plus many other Pilbara language and culture resources, are available for purchase in our South Hedland shop or online via bank transfer (click on the ‘Resources’ tab to get started!)
