Onslow Fishing Trip

Kids from Bellary Springs Community had a great trip to Onslow in 2010. They enjoyed their time fishing, swimming and eating local fish and chips. Elders from the community had planned the trip with Cecelia Fernandez from IBN as a way to reward the kids for working so hard during the school term, and for their excellent attendance at school.

Wangka Maya linguist Jessica Denniss met up with the group at Onslow, and spent time recording the Yinhawangka language with June Injie. June Injie is keen to work on her language to produce as many resources as possible for their community. June grew up in Onslow, and enjoyed visiting the Onslow Museum to see pictures of the town from her childhood.
